Types of Betting Odds
Betting odds can be categorized mainly into three types: fractional, decimal, and moneyline. Fractional odds, often used in the UK, express the potential profit relative to the stake. For example, odds of 5/1 mean that for every £1 wagered, you could win £5.
Decimal odds, popular in Europe and Australia, provide a straightforward way to calculate total payouts. For instance, odds of 6.00 indicate that a £1 bet could return £6, including the stake. Lastly, moneyline odds, commonly used in North America, can be positive or negative, where positive odds show how much profit you can make on a £100 bet, and negative odds show how much you need to bet to win £100.
